Windows 10 video player very dark videos (new monitor)

In the Windows 10 video player (or the legacy media player), the video is extremely dark, but my desktop and games are perfectly visible and fine.

I recently got myself an Acer Predator XB241H TN monitor, which runs at 144 hz, and obviously, switching to this monitor had to mess something up.

Cranking up the Nvidia color settings (mine are currently at brightness 30%, contrast 0%, gamma 0.89) seems to do nothing (gamma seems to grey out the entire video).

What is wrong with the video player?

Seems that I fixed this issue myself. In the Nvidia control panel, there is a desktop color settings and a "video" color settings, which apparently tweaks the media player programs. Setting all the sliders back to the middle as default seemed to fix the entire issue.
