Why most Monitors have an Anti-Glare screen ?(It just distorts color! Why isn't it an optional choice?)

Is there even a non anti glare coated display?
Most mid to high range monitors seem to be Anti-Glare coated!

If it really bothers you it is possible to remove the glass from your monitor.
I would never try it in a million years.

I don't see color matching with a coating as being an issue. With proper calibration almost any screen can display good color. I am a graphic designer and one time I designed a toaster oven door with green tinted glass. I had to print on the inside of the tinted glass and achieved a perfect color match with the outside of the oven. Inputting a reversed distorted color under a distorted color to make a perfect color.

What do you mean by "remove the glass." Do you mean it in a way where the whole glass panel comes off or just the coating?
