Hello. I am an amateur PC builder with an older PC. I would like to upgrade to a build with a Ryzen 5 1400 (or 1600, whichever I can afford), and a GTX 1060 6gb. Are there any specific builds with a lower budget <$900 that anyone recommends? Also, what kind of performance increase could I expect in FPS games such as COD WWII, Overwatch and CS:GO? My current PC specs are as follows: Intel Core 2 Extreme @3.6 Ghz, a Nvidia Quadro K4000 (which was a hand-me down) and 8gb of G.Skill DDR2?

Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend upgrading without a doubt. If your on DDR2 in 2018.. let's just say even DDR3 would be a upgrade.

At the moment prices for GPU's & RAM are sky rocketing for whatever excuse manufacturers are using. A budget of $900 at least you are able to obtain a decent Ryzen 5 1400 & a decent board. You'd have to cut some corners as the GPU is in range of $300+

You could even pass in theory with:
i3-6100
8gb ram ddr3 2133mhz
1tb hdd
cheap case
1060 6gb

Etc.

I have the 1050ti 4gb SSC. I get 140FPS on OW & 350+FPS CS:GO @ 2560x1080.

Ok, thanks so much! I think I'll probably try to get DDR4 from what I've read about the performance increase and to future proof it for a while. But, I might have to look into the i3s/Ryzen 3s.

Yeah no problem! It's just a bit of hard time right now cause prices are in the air. I'd say some more money if possible and get a decent computer build.

Some people save money by purchasing prebuilts with i5-7500's + 8gb ddr4 (HP) and slip a GPU in there and that's that.

I actually had a friend that did that with an i5-2400 8gb of DDR3 and chucked a GT 1030 in there. It works great for him, but I'd really like to do a full custom build just so I'm not confined to that motherboard with not as many PCI slots and as much customization as I want.
