If I color-calibrate my monitor will I notice a difference? (And how is the best way to do it?)

I have a nice 1440p VP2770 32bit color Viewsonic LED monitor and it was factory calibrated before shipment (it is about 3ish years old now) When I go through windows calibration I don't know how to properly do the color part and the sharpness is confusing as well I don't know if I am doing good or bad. I want it to be at it's best and I am assuming that it's color has changed over the time I have had it. Is it worth it for me to calibrate and is the windows standalone calibration tool the best free software to do this in windows 10? Also, how much of a difference would you guess I would be likely to see if I purchased hardware (like a spyder) to do it?

I just got a Viewsonic monitor and used the settings the poster from this site shows. They work fine. Still a little bright but it looks a lot better than default. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/4ufngl/calibrate_new_monitor_settings_viewsonic_xg2401/ Its a different monitor than yours but you can still try them out and see how it looks.

I looked over on HardOCP and found info on their forums about this monitor. https://hardforum.com/threads/viewsonic-vp2770-2560x1440-semi-glossy-pls.1732378/

I have a Viewsonic XG2701 and it has similar settings so I'll show what mine are set to right now. I only game but it looks great to me.

Brightness 25
Contrast 70
Manual Image Adjust - Sharpness 100
Advanced Image Adjust Smartsync OFF, Freesync ON, Response Time STANDARD, Low Input Lag ULTRA FAST, Black Stabilization 5
I'm pretty sure everything else is default on mine.

Hope this helps.
