Invisible slight Crack on the block

A friend of mine was working on truck had to replace freeze plug by starter had hard time getting started out there is a small it's not visible crack in the block only know it's there when the water comes out they are now wondering if maybe they hit to the hard on the block or two sharply with the flat screwdriver on the Block and cause this invisible slight crack on the block which is said would it have been possible for them to hit the block and cause to crack which mind's eye looks like a paper cut

cast iron or aluminum? If it's aluminum get the block welded. if it's cast iron, then depending on the vehicle, it's probably junk...

Nobody on this forum was there and was able to witness the installation of the freeze plug and will be unable to lay blame on your friend.

you should NEVER use a flat head screwdriver to install a freeze plug.

anyone that says you can, should not be installing freeze plugs.

The block is cracked if you have a coolant leak. Regardless of why it happened, you need a new block as yours is shot. The coolant as well as the oil on the other side of the water jacket are both under pressure and will mix/leak with the result of a seized engine in short order. Hopefully the truck is older and domestic and thus has a common engine that you can pick up a serviceable block at a junkyard for not that much money.
