1.1 displayport cord on 1440p 144hz

I've been running my swift rog pg278q with a 1.1 displayport cord for years... I just ordered a 1.2 cord. I've been running the 144hz setting for awhile and got a couple out of sync errors, that's how I found the issue. Will I really see benefit from upgrading from displayport 1.1 to 1.2?

You won't get sync errors, so you'll see a benefit in that sense.
