Hi guys. In my country the i5-7400 is much cheaper than ryzen 5 1600 so to suit my budget I can either go with an i5-7400 and gtx 1060 6GB or ryzen 5 1600 and gtx 1060 3GB. Which pair is better?

Stick with the Ryzen. Most ppl won't upgrade a cpu in the next few years but will likely upgrade a gpu. And boards will accept any gpu, whereas you'll be stuck with few upgrade options in the cpu department. Better to start out with a strong core component and fix the add-ons than the other way around.

I think it depends on how you run your games. If you want to run at 1080p with the highest framerate and highest settings possible, then you'll want the 7400 and the 1060 6gb. This is because right now not all games are leveraging the advantage in cores and threads that the Ryzen CPUs offer. On the other hand, if you think you'll do something like streaming your games, then you'll want the 1600.

So, for 1080p high settings with AA set to FXAA do you recommend the 1060 3GB for several years since I am for sure not going to upgrade any time soon after getting it.( As long as my fps doesn't go below 55 that's fine for me and I will be using a 1080p 60Hz monitor).

^ Id never look past 2 years when it comes to gpu's

Gpu power has progressed massively over the last 3 generations.

The fact is a gpu upgrade is simple (although not necessarily cheap) wheres you buy into an old platform like the 7400 & youll be stuck there 3 years down the line.

Stick with the ryzen , its a far far better cpu , & the 1060 3gb if its what you can afford.

If you end up gpu limited 2 years down the line you can always lower graphics settings.
