1080p 144Hz vs 1440p 60Hz

Hello folks. Would I be better off getting a 1080p monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate or should I get a 1440p monitor with a 60 Hz refresh rate.

For gaming? Considering your GPU I would take 1080/144 if you play any fast games. But if you do lot of other work and game only sometimes, 1440/60 is better choice.

Mostly for gaming and video editing. I was told that my CPU will bottleneck some games running at 1080p and was recommended to get a 1440p monitor.

I would not worry about the CPU. Even if it can't hit 144 FPS in some games (and there won't be so many), it can still do more then 60 in all, so you will see the difference. In the end, it all goes down to what type of games you play. Shooters and other FPP games will make great use of faster refresh rate, but strategy and RPG games would benefit from bigger resolution.
