Which cables should I use to connect my laptop to an external (2550x1600) display?

My laptop has HDMI and VGA outputs, my monitor (HP ZR30W) has display port and DVI. I looked on Amazon for DP to HDMI adapters but they only support resolutions up to 1920x1200, and i want the full 2550x1600. What should I be using? Oh and nothing above 20 dollars please.

The only way is with an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter like this:

Although it is a bit above your price range.

It needs to be an HDMI to DP adapter though. A DP to HDMI adapter is only for connecting a DP source to an HDMI display, not the other way around.
