I have my computer for almost a year now, I have my monitor plugged in a hdmi port into my cpu (it’s an i7-6700) and it’s working fine. But I recently discovered that my graphics card also has a hdmi port (it’s a gtx 970), so does it matter, performance wise, which hdmi port I plug my monitor in?

Solution
you plug it into the GPU. In fact that CPU port shouldn't even be working as the GPU should have assumed control over all graphics related tasks and the iGPU should have been disabled be default.

There's a chance with it plugged into the CPU port that you aren't even using the GPU. Do you low FPS or have to use low settings when playing games?
