Since I got my first PC 6 years ago, I've been using crappy in built speakers that came on my CTX 15" monitor. Also I've had a dismale sound card.
Now I'm due to buy a new PC and I want a nice Sound system.

I've been reading about all this negative stuff about creative sound cards, so I wonder whats the best Sound card and speaker system I can get on a budget of £100 or $150.

Cheers.

A nice sound system thst should come in under your budget might be a combination of a Philips Sonic Edge 5.1 card and an Altec Lansing ATP 3 2.1 Speaker system. the Phillips card is new and has recieved nice reviews as a middle of the road sound card with some nice features. I've been using the ATP 3's for a while now and am quite happy with them. At one time they were voted best all around 2.1 speakers by a number of reviewers. My system has gone through a number of upgrades but the ATP'S are still there. however speakers are such a subjective thing go listen before you buy.
