So I was on my PC one day and I was doing some work but somebody called me and I left my PC on for about 30 mins AFK and well I had built this PC couple of months ago and I thought it would go in sleep mode just like my laptop but when I came back it had turned off so I thought, OK so this might be a new feature in the PC that it automatically turns off after 20 - 30 mins so I turned off the switch of my power outlet but the next day when I tried to boot it up, everything was like 1000 times slower. Now I don't know whether my hard disk is damaged or not. If somebody knows what could have happens then please of me know and I would be very thankful if somebody could tell a solution. Thanks.

It is fine to shut off the computer with the power button. It has no effect on the computer. I have a one year old that is constantly shutting mine off, even when I am downloading something or working on projects.

Google it and you will find that this is not true any longer. It was true at one time, but not today.
