Help with frames per second

Okay here it goes I have a 1080ti and just upgraded my monitor to a Acer predator 1440p with a Max of 144hz. I'm playing shadow of war and I can't seem to hit higher than 60 fps in game while playing, I have everything maxed out, monitor is set to 144hz so is the Nvidia control panel, when in menus it is much b higher but during actual play it's hovering around 60, one thing I saw is that the settings in game have me using a 4k resolution scaled down, I tried adjusting it to it's native res but it's didn't help much, am I crazy to expect a very high fps on the game while the settings are maxed or am I missing something

Why don't you try 1080 low and find out?
Also check the game settings it's possible there is a frame limit setting in there that cuts it off at 60FPS.
