Hello,

so i bought 850 Watt Corsair TX-M Series TX850M Modular 80+ Gold and i was stupid enough not to check the cables... it was buy "in a hurry" and i just checked brand and gold and i ordered it. now i have a problem. I want to power 3x rx 580 with it needs 6+8 pin power supply but PSU comes with only 2 cables that are 8 pin into 2x6+2 pin pcie. Psu also only have 2 8 pin outputs (i could use my evga psu cable otherwise.) so my qustion is can i buy a splitting cable that i connect into 8 pin slot on PSU side and instead of getting 2x 6+2 i get 4x6+2. is it safe for my psu?

ty in advance and have a nice day

In theory it will work provided you know that your POWER DRAW will not go much above 300W for each of those outputs (8-pin is 150W so 2x8-pin is 300W).

You could do something like THIS:

1) 8-pin to 2x6-pin (not the other way) which frees up a 6+2-pin on one cable.

I believe those exist, but most are 2x6 to 8-pin.

2) 2xMOLEX to 8-pin

Then you have an 8-pin and 6-pin for the 3rd card.

For the first one just use the 6-pin outputs for each card.

The 2nd one would work all by itself, but only if the PSU power draw through MOLEX is acceptable. No idea. You need to find out that info (card power -75W such as 200W -75W = 125W through MOLEX).

Otherwise using just the single 8-pin part (6-pin via other cable) should draw only 50W or so (200W -75W - 75W) depending on how it's allocated.
