seems like we're already really close to 4k gaming and i really wanna get into it by buying a 1080ti (or wait for newer ones 1180ti/2080ti) and start gaming at 4k but the problem is the monitor that im dying to get isnt 4k its 1440p its the ROG Swift PG35VQ Gaming Monitor

its has
G-sync, IPS, 35 INCH, 200Hz, 4Ms, Widescreen, carved, HDR

its almost perfect! but if it was 4k instead of 1440p i would of gotten it in a heart-beat, any ideas if they would ever have the same specs for sale but on 4k?

It is gonna be a little while to you get a ultra wide 4k with 200hz, I would say at least 2019. You will see a 4k ultrawide 100hz panel a lot sooner. Asus and Acer were supposed to release a 144hz 4k panel last year, but it got delayed. The problem you have is there is just not a GPU to push that many pixels at that high refresh rate. The 1080ti is not gonna get you much more than 60fps in most games at 4k. Added to the fact that new games will continue to push hardware further, I highly doubt that Nvidia's next gen GPU will be able to sustain 144fps at 4k.
