Want to rollback to win 8.1 but have the ability to rollback to win 10

The title pretty much says it all. So im having some issues with my pc that that started when i installed windows 10, i want to go back to windows 8.1 to see if its a windows problem but if its not i want to have a backup to go back to windows 10. Please suggest any programs or will it just work if i dont format C: when im installing windows? Thanks in advance .

Using any of the current imaging tools...Macrium Reflect, Casper, Acronis TrueImage...create an image of your entire current Win 10 C drive.
All partitions.
Also, create whatever Rescue CD or USB they do.

Save this image off on a different physical drive.

Then, do what you want with 8.1 or whatever.
When you eventually realize that you DO want to go back to Win 10, recover from that Win 10 image you created.

Beware, Microsoft shortened the time you have to roll back a Windows 10 upgrade from 30 days to 10 days. After this period, you can revert to Windows 7/8.x by reinstalling, but of course you'll lose all your programs and customizations that way.

Windows 8,1 was just plain garbage. Why would you ever go back? Just saying.
