Hello everyone! I'm new to the PC gaming world, and I'm not a hardcore gamer now but may become one later. My question is whether a casual PC gamer like myself at the moment should go with a Samsung 960 m.2 nvme or a Samsung 850 Evo SATA III? The PC that I just purchased comes with a 256 GB M.2.

A 2.5" sata 850 evo or 860 evo for that matter(newer) is usually easier to install and move when upgrading systems. If it has a m.2 installed already, u might as well leave it in place tho.

If you need the M.2 for work flow, not gaming, then you'll benefit with M.2 . As of now most users can't tell difference between M.2 vs 2.5" SSD. And as $/gb is really high on M.2 I'd get a bigger SSD instead.

ADATA XPG SX8000 M.2 2280 256GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) ASX8000NP-256GM-C I paid $128 about 2 weeks ago.

Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SATA III SSD (MZ-N5E250BW) Runs about $20 less and is quite a bit slower though in general use you would never see anything special.

Samsung 960 EVO m.2 500gb is going for $199...so tempting.
