Turned on monitor and there is over 100 dead pixels

So I was using my computer last night (just 8 hours ago from typing this post) and everything was fine. I've never had any problems with dead pixels or that.
Though I have turned on my monitor this morning and there is 100s of dead pixels all scattered over the place. Majority of them in the one spot though.

Any help or suggestions in how this may have came about or that would be great.

Check your cables but so many dead pixels usually means screen gone bad.

Yea I was maybe thinking that. The monitor is a fair weena years old.
