1. Australia
2. High performance gaming (present for son - who is now streaming regularly to twitch
3. 1920 x 1200 up to 4k
4. What refresh rate do you want? (Free Sync & 144 Hz+)
5. AUD$400-1000
6. Known brand
8. Single purchase
9 GPU will be replaced - new screen is step 1 and I want to future proof. GTX 1080 or better
10. Ideally HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.6 (future proofing).
11. Primary display.

Hey all, son is passionate about gaming and has monitor issues. Looking to help him along with his studies by getting him a decent monitor for study results. He is regularly in the top gamers for the country (PUBG), is a streamer and all of that is with a crappy screen.

His graphics card is ok - and also needs to be upgraded but one step at the time. Looking for recommendations on a future proof screen solution. From what I can tell specs that include IPL or PLS, FreeSync, 1mS, 144Hz, HDMI2 and DisplayPort 1.6 should be minimum?

Any suggestions/experiences of what works well for very high end gaming that would meet this spec? Or is the spec flawed? (suggestions for improvements are welcome).

Thanks in advance, Lex

hi Lex

you want Gsync (not freesync) with an nvidia GPU (pubg also favours nviidia gpu's)

i would go with this model
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/61822-XB271HU (if you look at other places to buy ensure it is the IPS and gsync version)
(IPS, 4ms, 144hz (can overclock to 165hz), 1440p, 27", gsync)

- there is a cheaper non ips version with 1ms input lag, but i'd go with the IPS as above)

edit: pc case gear have it cheaper

Thank for for setting me straight. Too many numbers ~~ it should have been DisplayPort 1.4.
