Alienware AW2518H 240Hz G-Sync Problem

I recently just purchased the Alienware AW2518H and it was all going fine until I realized I wasn't using the monitor to it's full potential. When I checked how much hz my monitor was using it was set at 60, but when I tried to set it to something higher, it said the highest it could go was 60. I've been searching the web trying to find a solution, but all the methods didn't seem to work. If anyone can help me, I thank you in advance.

You need to use DisplayPort, not HDMI.
