Hey folks, so long story, but just last week I pulled my gaming rig out of storage where it's sat for the last 2 years. It was about 4 years old when it went into storage. To it's credit, the thing booted right up and after about 2 hours of updates, I was up and running and ready to game. However, a lot of new games have come out in the last two years!

Here is what I have right now. I'm open to upgrades, but I'm not sure what will even work with what I have, so I'm thinking about just starting from scratch again.

i5-2400: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074
ASRock LGA 1155: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157230
8GB Ram: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314
GTX 760: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127745
850 EVO: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147373

I'm not sure if upgrading would be worth it. I'm leaning toward a new build in the summer. If I wait until then, I'll have ~2K (USD) budget for a new, from scratch, system (and I don't need displays!). I hear nvidia is coming out with new cards this summer, so hopefully the 1070ti or 1080 will drop in price then.

Given that, would you think it would be best to wait until the release of the new nvidia cards to build something new? Also, would love some recommendations on a new system for the summer, with under 2K USD budget. One thing to note: Sorry, I'm totally not a fan boy, but I've just had back luck deviating from Intel/Nvidia in the past, so I tend to stick with them for builds now.

Thanks!

Moderator edit: Oh, one thing on the new build help request that I forgot to mention. I'd like to stick with air cooled builds, just easier. I currently have a full tower case.

For pure gaming, reuse your SSD for the OS and programs, on the case move the front fan to the top rear blowing out and add the 2 extra fans to the front blowing in.

Right now I would use your old video card till prices come back to normal you will probably need to turn the settings down till you get a new card. Your card is close to the performance of a GTX 1050ti that is around 200 bucks right now.

Gets you back going for about 1K.

If the cooler will fit in your case you could reuse it saving a hundred bucks or so.
