Cant Change Resolution

So I was recently trying to change my resolution via nvidia control panel. It doesnt matter what I change to it just stays on 1080p. When I try to make a custom resolution it wont create even though I click on create. Please help me its quite important. Thanks guys!

what Hz is your monitor?
what cable are you using to connect the monitor?

I got a 1080p lg monitor 60hz. I am using a hdmi cable and the resolution i am trying to get is 1024x768

have you tried using a different hdmi cable? what do you need to lower the resolution for?

No i have not. I need to change for a game. It will basically give me an advantage

and the game itself will not let you set a lower resolution? never seen a game where you could not set a lower resolution in the settings of the game.

It does but then i gave black bars on the sides and i need it stretched

sound like you are wanting a 4/3 resolution on a 6/9 screen. i don't think that will work without the the sides being blacked out. does your monitor itself have options in the menu to stretch the screen?

It works because i did it on my old pc. It may be the hdmi though since i got a new one. I’ll let you know tonight if that’s the case. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for this tip. To anyone who has this problem just simply try some other hdmi cables. This worked for me!
