Choosing a monitor for a heavy gaming build

My build so far:

I would like to get a 1440p with at least 144Hz, but I could settle for 1080p with 144Hz. Preferably with G-sync since it is a gaming build.
My budget is about 400$ and Im thinking about getting this one:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CwgPxr/dell-s2417dg-238-165hz-monitor-s2417dg
But in Norway, this monitor costs about 621$...

As you can see my build is already quite expensive, so I would prefer to get something for about 400$. So I either need another option or a cheaper offer on the same monitor.
All tips and suggestions are appreciated.

wow from norway, thats amazing

honestly a small 1080p screen is just as good as a 2k 27 inch monitor, you just see more without turning the camera around.
there is no need to get 144hz unless you play csgo diehard truthfully, ofcourse opinions vary on this.

so it depends, what do you do the most.

Thank you for your answer! From my understanding though, I wont be using the potential of my gpu without atleast a 144hz monitor? Still new to building so trying to figure things out.

I wont be buying any parts before I have (semi) decided on everything (so that it fits in my budget). I will be playing a variety of different games, like: Rise of the tomb raider, Crysis 3 and The Witcher 3, but also games like Hearthstone, ESO and civilization V.

If you’re getting a gtx 1080, I agree you may want to squeeze more of it’s perfomance out. It should get you past 60fps at 1080p in many titles. I’d choose between 1080p 144+ HZ or 1440P at ~60hz.

With that said, the dell monitor would be a nice option while also giving you the ability to turn down some setting and get some nice frame rate. As well as some ‘future proofing’ if you upgrade your system before your panel

I was thinking the same thing, I will probably end up with a 1080p with 144Hz. If you have any suggestions for a monitor, that would be appreciated.

Thank you! I am considering a 27'' version of the bottom one. Basically the same specs, just a bigger screen for about the same price.

That seems like a great choice.
