My build:

I am considering a couple monitors for my build. But since I live in Norway, the monitors are 50-200$ more expensive than in the US. So I can only get either 1440p without g-sync or 1080p with g-sync. Both have a refresh rate of 144Hz. I mostly play games like The Witcher 3, ESO, Fallout and other open world games, with some FPS games mixed in now and then. Im leaning towards the 1440p one, so should I let the lack of g-sync affect my decision?

I am thinking about 1 of these:

Specs (translated):
- 144Hz
- 1080p
- G-sync
- 1ms
- 27''

- 144Hz
- 1440p
- Freesync (I have a nvidia card so wont work for me)
- 1ms
- 27''

Solution
Stick with the 1440p at the same price imo.

You can set a frame cap & leave vsync disabled or worst case fast sync or adaptive does a decent job of stopping screen tearing in a worst cade scenario.

Only competitive fps gamers tend to complain about the extra lag it introduces - to 90%+ of gamers it doesnt really affect anything imo.

I dont really think thats a problem? The gtx 1080 is made for gaming at 1440p and would have no problem hitting an average of 100fps in most games at the best settings. My only question is about the g-sync, is it worth dropping down in resolution for?
