When I select windows boot manager from the os selector menu, windows begins attempting repairs and says that the repair couldn't be performed and then gives me the option to shut off or try other options (which is the screen where it says system recovery, reset, ect.).
I can boot into ubuntu just fine. Thanks in advance.

Are you running on Windows 10? If so you can try this:

When the blue screen comes up with "choose option" choose Troubleshoot, then go on to Refresh PC or Reset PC."
Complete the process by following the wizard instructions.
If the problem still exists, it is suggested to reinstall the operating system.
