Hello guys.

[nosmiley]tl:dr [/nosmiley]
I upgrade motherboard, ram and cpu because the motherboard is brokenish. Can you have a look at the entire setup and the individuals since my knowledge is very basic. Thanks!

I am "upgrading" my motherboard Ram and CPU. (Because the motherboard is basically broken. I have many different weird problems and I tried basically every fix I found.)
I checked for compability on my new stuff. But wanted to ask wheter you have any advice on it?
My knowledge is extremly fundamental so I just picked stuff that has a lot of power but isn't a huge step in the price compared to a little less power.

I am using 2 screens a 24" and a 4k 21:9. I play a lot of games and occasionally use 3D software and Video editing software. So a lot of power is nice but for way more power I got a workingstation at my jop.

Rest of my RIG: (without psu, mobo and ram)
Be quiet! DARK POWER PRO P10 (650W) BN201
GTX 1080 ti
WD Black (2000GB, 3.5", Desktop, Workstation)
Samsung 840 EVO Basic (250GB, 2.5") <- Boot Drive
Samsung 960 EVO (250GB, M.2 2280)
Windows 10 pro 64 bit
I have two screens
BenQ GL2450HM (24", 1920x1080)
LG 34UM94C-P (34", 3440x1440)

Components I change:

Intel Core i7 4770k (3890.72 MHz)
to
Intel Core i7-8700K
The GHz stay about the same (From 3.50 too 3.70 GHz). The cores increase from 4 to 6 and possible threads from 8 to 12.
However I can't really tell how much this is of an upgrade. For about 350.- Considering the GHz won't change really. I don't want to overclock since I just had problems with it and I heard that it burns the cpu way faster.

DDR3, Dual, four on 4 Gig installments, NB Frequency 3890.7 MHz, DRAM Frequency 665.1 MHz
to
4x Corsair Vengeance LPX (, 8GB, DDR4-3200, DIMM 288)
or
2x Corsair Vengeance LPX (, 16GB, DDR4-3000, DIMM 288)

Do two make more sence? The price is "about" the same. I heard that buying more is better. And considering that I won't upgrade from 32gig anytime soon. I'd consider this more.

Maximus VI Hero
to
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (LGA 1151, Intel Z370, ATX)

Now compabitlity is being granted by all being
DDR4
And the CPU socket is a LGA 1151
The cpu cooler is LGA 1151
According to this website, where you can test ur wattage.
https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
Apparently they recommend 641 W.
I have one with 650W.
And all being ATX, therefore fit in my case.

Price total:pt1cable::
309.- + 366.- + 458.- = 1133.- (Swiss franks)

Thanks for the help. I really really appreciate it!

Well since you are both gaming and doing productivity on that PC, your CPU will be fine. If you were mostly on productivity I'd recommend an 8-core Ryzen 1800x chipset build.

Regarding memory, on an Intel platform that is not the high end X-series, go with the two memory modules over four in combination. Using up all four DIMM slots increases chances of errors, especially if you plan on overclocking. You will benefit from more memory of 32GB than 16GB in video editing and other productivity apps, but not in gaming.

Regarding the power supply, there is no way your build would consume 641 watts. I have no idea what that website tool is smoking. My guess is 400-450W at the most. Here's a review of an 8700K running a GTX 1080. Note the total system power consumption under load:

Are you sure your problem isn't your power supply? I believe that one is built by FSP, and FSP can be hit and miss on quality. The 8700k is fine, but if you are not going to be doing any heavy overclocking, that motherboard is overkill. An Asrock z370 extreme4 or the killer SLI/AC is plenty. 2x8gb is better than 4x4gb, on a dual channel system like this will be. I also use PCpartpicker to get wattage estimates.
