PC keeps reinstalling bad driver since Win 10 update

Windows 10 forced an update on my laptop last week (1709), and ever since I have a Conexant audio driver with terrible audio quality that I can't get rid of.
I've disabled automatic device driver updates (Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Hardware), yet whenever I uninstall the unit and its driver back to the regular High Definition Audio Device driver within the device manager, it eventually reinstalls the bad Conexant driver.

What can I do?

Not a whole lot. The best solution is to turn off automatic device driver updates altogether. Here are some instructions which should be able to walk you through that process.
