Hello Guys,

I am windows 10 user and recently I came across the fact that my Task manger always shows 100 % usage no matter what I am doing.

For example if I am surfing the internet then it shows chrome to be using more 90% of cpu, if the laptop is left idle then it's either task manager itself, or some other windows service like "system", or "antimalware service executable" using all my CPU and closing these services means that the usage will just start fluctuating between other services.

I am quite sure that it is not a virus . Moreover, some days ago I updated my windows 10 to the latest version(Microsoft kept forcing me ) after which this problem came to my notice.

Another weird thing is that this happens only to task manager, I mean when I am looking at the usage using Intel XTU or MSi dragon center the CPU usage is coming up as pretty genuine. So, is this some sort of bug or there is something seriously wrong with my laptop??

Specs :
Model : MSI GE62VR 7RF APACHE PRO
CPU : Intel i7-7th gen 7700HQ
RAM : 16 gb ddr4 @ 2400Mhz
ROM : 1tb HDD@7200rpm , 256gb SSD
Graphics : Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb DDR5
OS : Windows 10 Home (fully updated to a point where I regret even updating it)

PS :My laptop dosent really freezes due to this constant CPU usage.

Hi, resetting your power plan may help.

Click on Start and go to Settings (gear icon).
Click on System.
Click on "Power & Sleep".
On the right, click on "Additional power settings". This will open the Power Options window.
On the right, beside of the selected plan, choose "Change plan settings".
Write down any plan settings so you can reset them later if you want.
Choose "Restore default settings for this plan".
Check the CPU usage in Task Manager. Hopefully it will be fixed.

1. Run a scan with Zemana Anti-malware
2. Open "Microsoft Store" and see if it's updating apps.
3. Search on google how to disable Windows Defender and install a free antivirus (avast, kaspersky, bitdefender)
