So recently i've been saving to build a new PC. the card i want to get is a MSI GTX 1050 which only has a DVI-D, Display port and HDMI, my current monitor is an older Samsung with 1920 x 1080 and i cant afford a new one so i was planning on using a HDMI to VGA adapter. apon reading other forums i found out that the GTX 10 series don't support analog signals anymore so i would need an active adapter to get it to work.

Will something like this work for me or will i need something different?

Solution
you are correct that you would need an active adapter. the one you linked is not an active one.

it will say it in the title or description if it is. no need to guess. something like this is fine

note the "active" right in the title. that's what you want. some will draw power from a usb port or something like that as well. takes a touch of power to do the conversion and drawing power from a usb or plugging in is not a bad idea. though one that does not like this one is fine as well.
