Hi, first sorry for my English.

I'm looking for a monitor to use for work (programming) and play (all kinds of games). I didn't want to spend too much, my cap is about 300€, but if the quality difference is too much I can go up a bit.

I have been searching various forums and found several models that speak well.

Dell S2417DG
Viewsonic XG2401
Dell Alienware AW2518HF
LG 24MP68VQ-P
ASUS VG248QE

The questions I have are, are there any other monitors to consider? Does it make up for the price difference from Dell to Viewsonic to make the effort? Won't the Dell's resolution be too high for inches?

I have a GTX 960, can I play more than 1080?

I've seen that the Dell has a bestial banding according to this video and if it's like the video I think it's a huge fuck-up and I don't think I'd like to see the degraded ones like that.

By the way, the monitor I currently have is a BenQ G2420HDBL and the truth is that I'm quite happy with it, but I want to pass this one on to use it as a secondary monitor since the one I have as a secondary monitor right now, a Samsung, doesn't have any holes for Vesa support.

Greetings and thank you very much

You would be better with 1440p monitor.
1. it's long term investment
2. you can lower game resolution until you upgrade GPU
3. it is better for work as you have more things on the screen
27" is nice for 80-100cm viewing distance.
