Cloning Windows 10 from laptop to pc

Hi guys, I have been using an ordinary laptop for gaming on lighter titles for a few years now and have decided that now is the time to make the leap to PC. When I change over I want to clone all my data over.

This got me asking... if I clone my laptop hdd, will my os adapt to the new system, for example will it install graphics card drivers? Will it update its settings for example, will it tell me about my battery life?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should do a fresh install on the new system, and transfer over whatever data you need.
Cloning the drive in this case would cause more issues than its worth, since its two different systems.

The Windows license on you laptop won’t be transferable if it’s the same license that came with the laptop. Also with any change of motherboard it is highly recommended to reinstall Windows.

Majorly bad idea.

1. It probably will not work
2. The laptop license won't transfer.

Your new shiny desktop needs its own OS license.
Yes, this costs money.
Just like all the other parts in your new system.
