New HDMI monitor, can´t hear anything on it

I had an old VGA monitor, but i recently got a new HDMI one, thing is, i can´t hear anything from it, i already connected it to another PC i have, but i could hear everything clearly on that one, i´ve looked a lot for a fix but i can´t seem to find one that works for me.
I have windows 7

Which monitor? Not all monitors have built in speakers.

as Glenwing said, not all monitors have build in speakers. But, if it does, then go to control panel and then to sound and make sure you've have the HDMI output enabled and you have it set as the default audio device

Sorry for not answering, been quite busy lately, I discovered recently that it was the graphic card´s fault as it had and hdmi output, but for some reason this output only served for video, i changed my graphics card recently and now i can hear completely fine from my monitor, thanks anyways!
