Looking for a used laptop that fits these requirements.

$200 or less shipped to Iowa.
i5 or i7, Generation doesn't matter.
Must be a working machine.
Able to take 8gb of ram
15 inch or smaller.

Let me know what you have I am not to picky.

FYI: The i5/i7 generation should matter immensely...especially that it's 2nd gen or newer. But really, the specific chip should matter as there are plenty of i7's and i5's that are dual-core.

8GB of DDR3 or DDR4? Do you already own it? If not, that's going to be >$80 by itself.

Able to take at least 8gb. Doesn't have to come with 8gb....

as for i5/i7 gen does not matter to me as I am spending $200 or less.

I have a Dell Vostro 3550 (i5-2540M, 1 stick of 4GB DDR3 RAM installed but able to take up to 16GB) and a Dell Latitude E6520 (i5-2540M, 8GB DDR3 installed) that I'm trying to sell, both are in good condition, 15.6", and under $200. If you're still looking and either of these might work shoot me a PM and I can give more details

Those are reasonable laptops for this price range.

I still don't understand why i5/i7 is a requirement, but not the performance of the chip. You can get 6th gen i3's beating 1st gen i7 performance with much better battery life.
