Why do sites like this one, BLOCK users from viewing the article they came to see, with annoying unrelated videos & curtains?

When we visit a web page, likely we clicked on a link because there was something we wanted to see there.

Then, you block what we wanted to see by throwing a blackout overlay over the content we are trying to read, with annoying nag windows that interrupt what we were trying to do.

OR, you throw an embedded video at the top of the page which is totally unrelated, starts automatically, and if that wasn't annoying enough, it FOLLOWS US down the page!

Is there a course web developers take called "Annoy the visitor 101?" SERIOUSLY. STOP IT.

Ads and those features can be blocked. Just add Adblock or uBlock Origin to your browser plug-ins. Ghostery can also help. Just a suggestion.

By the way, those ads are what pay for many sites to keep the lights on (so to speak).
