Build a desktop with a touch screen monitor

Dear folks

Can we attach a touch screen monitor to a desktop that I am looking to build up ?
Any special connections needed ?
Is it common practice ?
I know there is all in computer with touchscreen

You can buy touchscreen monitors, you see them like at supermarkets and such, they aren't usually used for gaming or professional computing environments, like engineering and such. I use one for my work as a DJ, and consider the touchscreen indispensable, but that's built into my laptop, not a special monitor. Usually you don't want to be that close to a monitor...
