Just put together my first build ever and pressed the power button...but nothing comes up on my monitor. Both the case fan and the CPU cooler fan spin. Power button on case lights up and GPU lights up.

I followed the checklist below and found some errors. I initially didn't have the 12vATX connector plugged in. I've tried every type of RAM configuration, only 1, both, in every slot. My case came with standoffs in it. Disconnected and reconnected the GPU. I may have put too much thermal paste on the cpu at first, but wiped it off with q-tips to just have it on the CPU.

My build parts list is here:

Also, neither my keyboard or my mouse laser light up when the computer boots. Any and all ideas are welcome!

Update: I took the build completely apart and cleaned off some excess paste around the CPU and pushed the ram in extra hard. Booting and display working now with no problems.

I think I was being too careful with installing the ram. It has the mounts that click on one side and nothing on the other so they weren't seated on the 'non-click' side.
