I'm looking for a 1920x1080p, 120-144Hz, g-sync monitor for hopefully around (if not under) $300. Dropping over $1,000 on PC so want to get a good monitor that doesn't suck me anymore dry.
I'm basically just asking what everyone's suggestion is, because from what I've found everything has mixed reviews or is absurdly expensive.

Solution
I would not use v-sync, I can really feel the input lag when it's on. I have a 144Hz monitor w/o G-Sync and I've used an RX 580, GTX 1070, and GTX 1080 Ti and don't feel the need for G-Sync or FreeSync (and I do have freesync actually).

When I did experience screen tearing on my 4K 60Hz monitor using a GTX 1070 I enabled Nvidia Fast-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel and it went away.

I would say for a $1,000 build a simple 1080p 144Hz monitor would do just fine. If going Nvidia you can use Fast Sync (no extra features required) or if going AMD FreeSync is cheap enough to easily obtain.

I have read in a few place that g sync might be a little bit unnecessary for the price if you are getting a 144Hz monitor because you most likely won't go above 144fps. Not to mention v sync can help that little extra bit to keep things buttery. Is there any validity to these claims?

Yeah I am going with the Nvidia 1060 3gb so I will take your advice and get a 144Hz 1080p with g sync because they are way cheaper. Thanks for the peace of mind cause I just don't wanna spend all this money and have to deals with screen tearing. (or spend an extra $100 or more for a monitor.)
