I recently upgraded my hardware and the drivers for my new mobo are only available for windows 10, so my widows 7 hd cant boot it up. I want to upgrade to windows 10 but i dont want to do a clean install, however the windows 10 upgrade utility says that it has to run from windows 7 partition but that wont boot up. Im not sure what to do.

Also my old hardware isnt compatible with widows 10 so i cant even throw my pc back together and upgrade the windows to 10 then come back.

You really have no option, you have to do a clean install. The good news is that it is very easy, takes about 15 minutes. The bad news is that because you did not upgrade to Windows 10 before you bought the new motherboard you will have to buy a new license for Windows 10.

Download the media creation tool on a functional Windows computer and then make a bootable USB stick and you will be off to the races.

if i were to clean install on a new drive is there any way to transfer progam files and program file (x86) over to the new drive and have it incorporate into windows 10? I have a bunch of software that i no longer have the files/keys for that are installed right now
