Is there a big difference between my build and this one?

I'm looking at upgrading my computer if it's going to see a good difference in performance. I'm a photographer and do very light video editing.

Current build:
ASRock Z97 Extreme6
i7 4th Gen 4790k CPU @ 4GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
m.2
Geforce 1060 6G (keeping)

Proposed build:
ASRock Z370M Pro4 LGA 1151 (300 Series)
i7-8700 3.2 GHz 6-Core LGA 1151 Processor
Ballistix Sport LT Gray 32GB DDR4-2666 UDIMM
Same m.2

I am not going to recommend you to upgrade right now since you are a less demanding user and that cpu is really good for your purpose. Why you are planning to upgrade? Any specific requirement?

Processing TIFF files can take a little bit but it's really not too bad. I wasn't sure if I'd see a big improvement from 4 cores to 6 and a newer generation of CPU.

Based on your work needs you may notice a 20 to 25% faster performance but depends on the software and how it is optimized to take advantage of more cores. But it seems that for your work load no need to change the cpu since you have to buy new mobo and ram too and right now ram are very costly. For you I am not getting enough reason to recommend you for an upgrade unless you have good amount of money lying around or for fun.

Thank you for the opinion, I'll wait a year or 2 then; it does work well. I think that my need for a NAS out weighs the computer.
