I'm on a very strict and tight budget at the moment. My current cpu is an A4 6300. I have a gt 1030 Aero ITX. I mainly want to run Fortnite at 1440x900 or above. If that runs then i'm fine. Does anybody have any ideas of what cpu is the best option?

Thank you, i looked in to it and it would make a great option. But, i have an FM2+ motherboard, so this LGA1155 cpu won't work on it :(.

3.7 GHz on an old AMD cpu is about the same as an old 2.6 GHz Core2....if lucky.

The GTX1030 is already challenged at 720/768P, but, if your cpu is massively holding you back anyway, you might as well crank up the resolution if not taking a framerate hit....

i can actaully get fortnite running at a somewhat stuttery 55 FPS on everything on low execpt for render distance and 1440x900 3D resolution. I wanted the new cpu because i wanted to eliminate stutter and turn up the settings. Because, well, Fortnite doesn't look too great on lowest let's just say.

i have a fairly old monitor, which is 1440x900. My game is already on the highest res.

okay

1. cpu listing with bios revision needed prior to upgrading is listed below
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/A68HMPLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/

2. 42 quid upgrade is going to be tight unless you can find a local source (pawn shop or used pc shop) and if you know a better source then ebay.co.uk to look for one. but I found : A10-5700 on ebay for about 40-50 quid.

But I would suggest getting 30 quid more and get an A10-7800 used on ebay goes for 60-80 quid.

The problem you have is that product is pretty much End of Life...
The thing you should do, is upgrade something like Z87 motherboard and any i5/i7 3/4 series then you can keep your ram.

That will help you, then sell your motherboard and cpu, keep your ram and Graphics card.
