somewhat budget gaming cpu

right now i have a core i5-3470 which does a solid job at running less demanding titles like fortnite and overwatch. i want to upgrade to either a stronger i5 or an i7, and has to be a quad core. my current budget is $180 USD or $240 CAD.mother board socket is LGA1155 so dont try to recommend an AMD Ryzen. Im fine if its used, but only from amazon. thx

What motherboard do you have? Assuming it's a Z77 chipset, an i7-3770 or i7-3770k would be the fastest processors your chipset supports.

Your I5-3470 runs at 3.2 stock with a 3.6 turbo

The top lga1155 processor will be the I7-3770K which will sell for perhaps $180 used on ebay.
It will run at 3.4 with a 3.9 turbo.
Plus you get some added threads.
Added threads are useful primarily for multiplayer games.

If your motherboard has a overclockable Z chip, the 3770K can go higher.

oh nvm it was a i7-3770k not a 17-3770 for $130CAD (100USD)
