If I do a custom install after this latest windows update has corrupted my system will I lose all installed programs - is there any way of copying the registry from the windows.old dir ? or something.
What exactly is going to be left after this custom install - I do have a backup from January which might be better to use .

Windows will not run - goes to keyboard layout screen then to trouble shooting screen and none of the options will run ie repair/rollback etc - can go to command prompt
