My needs are pretty simple; a ~32" 1080p matte/anti-glare display that produces clear crisp text. Not a gaming monitor, although it would probably see use as one at times. I mainly need crisp clear text. Not sure which technology, but what produces the best text. No glossy screen. My budget will limit me to ~$200. $250 tops.

I tried a LG 32MA68HY-P IPS display as recommended here on the forum, but it had such a glossy screen I had to return it. I was constantly seeing my reflection and the room's reflection in it. Nice monitor if it would have been matte or anti-glare or whatever the correct term is.
Thanks.

Sure, that one looks good too. I'm no expert on monitors or anything, based on your stated use case it seems like just about any matte 32" 1080p monitor would do. I guess one other thing you might want to look for in a monitor would be height adjustment, but I find the cheaper ones usually don't have it.

1080p at 32" is pretty low pixel density, I'm not sure if you're going to get the crisp clear text that you want. I'd aim for at least 1440p at that size. Unless you're sure from your experience with that LG that pixel density was fine, and glossiness was the only issue.

If all you care about is readability, I'd say panel type (e.g. TN, IPS, etc) doesn't really matter. I'd look for flicker free dimming and maybe a built in low blue light mode though for being easier on the eyes.

If you're ok with 1080p at 32", then something like this would probably be ok: http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32MP58HQ-W-led-monitor

It has an anti-glare coating, rather than the semi-glare coating of the other one you bought, and can be found here for $200:

Thank you for the reply. Yes, 1080p is fine. Smaller text is too hard for me to see comfortably. The monitor you suggest is great, but it is also semi-glare like the one I had.
So... the no-glossy spec I need to look for is called 'anti-glare'?

Oops, I meant to link this one (same model but -P rather than -W):
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/desktop-monitors/lg-32MP58HQ-P

However, I noticed that the description isn't consistent between the Canadian and American LG sites for that monitor (Canadian lists anti-glare, US lists semi glare). Not sure which on to trust. Both sites list semi-glare for the model you had bought though, so at least that's consistent.

But yes, in general you want to look for "anti/non-glare" or "matte" to get a non-glossy monitor. Here's another possibility: https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/VA325H/specifications/

Regarding text size, you can always turn on display scaling in order to increase text size. You can adjust it so it appears roughly the same size as if it was a 1080p monitor, but it will be sharper/clearer. Although all other display elements will be enlarged as well. Many applications offer built in zoom (e.g. internet browsers, text editors, pdf viewers) such that you can increase the size of text that way as well.
