Hello OS experts,

I've been planning to change my current Windows 10 Pro to Windows Server 2016. I'll be making a home domain that everyone else in the house will be joined to. My question is, can I fully replace Windows 10 Pro for this, as my desktop OS? Will there be any software compatibility issues (Or just issues in general) that I may come across?

I do a lot of gaming on this rig, and a bit of productivity software occasionally.

On server OS priority is given to service processes. User processes automatically get assigned lowered priority. Gaming performance will suffer because of this on server OS.

It would be better to dedicate a separate small pc for domain controller purposes. Or you can install Windows server OS in virtual machine.

Hey man, thanks for the reply. I'll go with your suggestion and install it on a virtual machine. Now my other biggest challenge is to change the edition of Windows to Pro, for all the PCs. Unless there's another way around to joining domains?
