I attempted to install windows 10 on a brand new hdd that I purchased on Amazon. I am replacing a bad hard drive. My first attempt to install windows failed. During the installation I had an error and had to abort the installation. I think I may have had a bad HDD so I Returned it and got a new one from Amazon. I am going to try the installation again but I just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly. The last time I just plugged in the hard drive and put my windows installation disk in the USB port and it began to in stall. I remember back in the day we had to format the hard drive at the command prompt (/format c:) but I was told that with windows 10 you don’t have to do that and it should just be plug-and-play. Do I need to format the new hard drive before I do the installation? Or should it just be plug-and-play?
