Benq XL2430T won't go over 120hz

I'm using the DVI cable & adapter that came with it. Not only will it not go to 144hz (capped at 120), but it will also only do 120hz on low resolutions.
Help?

What GPU do you have? A DVI w/Adapter is likely DVI-I, and if coming from VGA (via the adapter), that may likely be your limitation.

For 144Hz, you'll likely have to use either DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0 (which would be higher end Nvidia 900 series cards or any 10 series.... R9 Fury/X? or RX cards).

I have a titan XP. My moniter won't run anything over 60hz on HDMI. What displayport should I buy?

Just any old DisplayPort cable will do fine at 1080p 144 Hz.
