4k 60hz and 2k 144hz

Hi there is there anyway to turn a 4k 60hz monitor down to a 2k 100hz or 144? I want to have a 4k monitor for movies and such but want a higher refresh rate for gaming, any ideas will be much appreciated

If an monitor only supports 60hz then you might not get 144hz even if you turn down to 2k because the monitors only support 60hz

No. If the display could refresh all its pixels at that speed then it would just be a 4K 144 Hz monitor in the first place.

Actually Glen, it depends. I've seen Korean monitors that are rated (a rated "overclock") for 60hz 4k and around 100hz at 1080P, lowering the resolution does put less load on the monitors components allowing for higher overclocks on the refresh rate.

But is is still just that, an overclock. Nothing guarantees that these 4k monitors will even reach 100-144hz at 1440P or whatever resolution lower than native.
