USB not working in car stereo

I have Sound Barrier car stereo player . USB is unable to read . When I plug in hp pen drive of 16 gb with FAT32 format, the stereo is unable to read . The same occurs when I plug in phone through usb to play music .

Same cable? If so, try another cable.

Does the HP pen drive and the phone work in other vehicles/stereo players? Do other devices work in your stereo player?

Check the Sound Barrier specifications. Find out what formats are supported.

Verify that the HP pen drive and phone have supported formats.

How old is the Sound Barrier car stereo player? Any warranty left? What about firmware upgrades? Maybe some corruption has occurred.
