Hi all

I am currently scoping out an upgrade for my PC - moving from a GTX 660 to either a 1070ti or a 1080. Where I am less sure however is which screen I might buy to replace my ageing 1080p display so I wanted to ask you guys!

I am hoping for a 1440p screen with 144hz refresh rate - 27 - 32 inches in size and would like to avoid going above £500 if I can. Not committed to it but a curved monitor would be swish.

Advice/recommendations of possible monitors would be welcome - there is a lot of terminology (VA, IPS, TN, G-Sync etc.) which I am struggling to assess in terms of value for money/image quality so help would be very much appreciated :)

Many thanks,

Barney.

Hi Barney,

I am just saying this from my own personal experience ... I had a GTX 1080 and bought a 1440p Acer predator IPS 27" 144HZ (165hz) screen to play games and I hated every moment due to the higher resolution my fps in many games was horrid as like everybody else wants the graphics set on max which I could do but the fps was impacted quite bit. Within 3 months I bought my Zotac 1080 ti which is a beast of a card at 1440p and glad I went for it and majority of all games stay at 144fps.

So long story short and others might beg to differ but 1440p on a 1070ti with games at full graphics is not such a good idea but if you are one who can settle with some graphics lowered than it shouldn't be a problem.

But any way as I mentioned above I bought the acer predator IPS 27" 144hz (overclocked to 165hz <--- what a gimic) and I love it the colours are great on the IPS and the monitor performs perfectly with no issues.
