How can I control a PC monitor with a remote control if it has a RS232 port?

I want to switch my monitor source from PC to TV receiver and back, using a remote control or a smartphone, can I do this if the monitor has an RS232 port, and how? Thank you

It depends what the RS232 port is for. There may be IR or wireless adapters that could communicate with your phone or a remote, but I have no clue if that would do anything for your monitor. If not, you can buy a USB adapter to possibly control inputs via the PC and find some way to send commands to the PC from your phone. What monitor do you have btw?
